Surface Detail by Iain M Banks

I started reading this a few months ago but only sporadically so in the beginning. As I got further through, however, the story became that much more exciting until I ended up reading the final quarter in a single day – this is a lot for me.

I've never been any good at reviewing books, and I can certainly never use the sort of language others use as they talk about the narrative and all that; I just know if I've enjoyed a book or not and I enjoyed Surface Detail immensely, considering it my favourite of Banks' Culture series so far.

Banks' usual descriptiveness made it easy as ever to picture each scene, almost giving me the ability to pause the action and take in the detail, albeit in my head.

A definite 5 out of 5.
